The Health Benefits of Colloidal Oatmeal

Posted by Rien | Eczema | Thursday 21 August 2014 5:44 pm

For those who are not familiar with colloidal oatmeal, it is actually an oatmeal that is finely grounded then added to water. There are a lot of health benefits of colloidal oatmeal, making it a popular ingredient especially in skin care products.

Colloidal oatmeal, just like the regular oats, contains beta-glucans. These are polysaccharides that can aid in reducing any skin inflammations. It can help in activating the skins immune cells while also stimulating more collagen deposits in the skin. Colloidal oatmeal is known to be a natural healer of the skin, which is why it is a popular ingredient for natural handmade soaps.

Any skin inflammations can be relieved by colloidal oatmeal especially when applied directly to the skin. This is because the skin can effectively absorb the beta-glucan present in the oatmeal. According to health authorities, colloidal oatmeal can be used as a natural skin protectant.

Aside from relieving any skin inflammations, this powerful ingredient can be very useful in cleansing the skin, making it a very useful ingredient for natural organic soaps. Oats are also rich in saponin that is commonly found in various plants. The saponin is responsible for moisturizing, cleansing, and soothing effects on the skin. When added to skin care products, it will provide a nourishing and invigorating effect on the skin. You may have heard about colloidal oatmeal baths offered in spas. This procedure is quite popular in spas because of the benefits that it can give. That is the reason why it is so relaxing and will make you feel really clean after the bath.  Even if you don’t have any skin problems, you can have a colloidal oatmeal bath for relaxation and skin protection.

Apparently, there are a lot of health benefits of colloidal oatmeal for the skin. If you would like to treat any skin inflammations or you simply want to protect your skin, you can look for organic skin care soaps that contain colloidal oatmeal as an ingredient. Skin care products made with natural ingredients are so much better for the health compared to commercial soaps that are sold in the market. Commercial soaps may claim to contain organic ingredients but keep in mind that these soaps still contain artificial chemicals and preservatives that can harm the skin. If you want a healthier and more glowing skin, make sure that you choose skin care products made with natural ingredients such as handmade soaps.
